Sustainable Community Action

"It may be impossible to get to a sustainable America, but it is absolutely certain that an unsustainable America is impossible." John Dernbach, director of the Environmental Law Center at the Widener Law School in Pennsylvania

The United States of America is a country of the western hemisphere, comprising fifty states and several territories. Forty-eight contiguous states lie in central North America between the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans, bound on land by Canada to the north and Mexico to the south; Alaska is in the northwest of the continent with Canada to its east, and Hawaii is in the mid-Pacific. At over 3.7 million square miles (over 9.6 million km²) and with over 300 million people, the United States is the third or fourth largest country by both total area and population. The U.S. is one of the world's most ethnically and socially diverse nations.

The United States was, as of 2005, the largest single emitter of carbon dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels.

Share information about . . . Places

Where you live, work or visit, from local communities to countries, continents and the planet itself, or just somewhere you know about or are interested in.

What information might be relevant to quality of life or wellbeing in each area? What challenges or opportunities are there?

A good way to start an article is to see if there's an article about the place in Wikipedia, which you can adapt to include material relevant to sustainability. Or just build up a list of relevant links.

Projects and networks
Share information about any sustainability projects or networks you may be involved with or know about. If you're unsure what information to include, just imagine you're wanting to learn about other projects. What information would you find useful? A good example project page is Kingston Green Fair
